The Department of Welsh Language is responsible for developing Welsh language within St. Helen’s School. Members are the ‘Criw Cymraeg’ and are easily distinguishable by their lanyards.
Our main aim is to work towards achieving the ‘Cymraeg Campus Bronze Award.’ This award comprises of many targets to improve Welsh language throughout the school including Welsh yard games, signage around the school and special days with a Welsh focus.
The ‘Criw Cymraeg’ award the ‘Criw Cymraeg Cup’ each week. The winners are the class that has collected the most ‘tocyn iaith’ for speaking Welsh that week.We aim to ignite pupils’ pride of being Welsh and promote the importance of the language and culture.
